Isolated on 2,4-D as the sole source of carbon and energy. Contains 76958bp catabolic plasmid responsible for 2,4-D degradation by this strain. Grows on citrate, acetate, formiate, D- and L-lactate, propionate, succinate, L-glutamate, but not on glucose and phenol. oxidase positive. Does not hydrolyse casein, starch and gelatin. Accumulates polyhydroxybutyrate. Does not produce acid from D-fructose, D-xylose, D-mannitol, sucrose and sorbitol. Grows on 42°C. Resistant to ampicillin and penicillin, sensitive to polymyxin B.
